Vintage Anime Club Podcast

A group of friends, a disc of anime, a bottle of wine...better make it two. We're an anime podcast taking a look back at some older anime titles on physical media, and seeing if they still hold up or not. Sometimes time lets us appreciate overlooked titles, while other instances require us to remove those rose-tinted glasses. So grab a glass of wine and have a listen.

Short staff today with Diana, Sam, and Eve out. But Kate is back to tell us stories of Japan, Ed gets a new figure preorder in, and Dennis is excited for all the Hunter x Hunter news. And today, we go over the Toonami classic Blue Submarine No. 6, along with a deep dive of the special features bonus disc.

Kate is out and about in Japan, but Sam joins as another regular host as we discuss Wicked City, our impression of watching this 1987 adult thriller OVA under the scope of today's society, especially Makie's treatment in the story. And yes, apologies for confusing Miura-san with Minowa-san. But hey! We have a snoring doggy in the background!

It's the intro episode to the Vintage Anime Podcast! Like older anime? Miss the days when it was a more of a social experience watching with friends? So do we! Come join in our anime club where we'll watch one disk each episode and discuss it over a bottle of wine or two. For this episode, we discuss how we got into and remained in the anime fandom. There's weekday afternoon Toonami reminiscing, Gundam elitism, T-1 college internet, and when Sci-Fi had an anime weekend marathon. Kanpai!

*Note: Still working out the kinks. Apparently Ed's mixer channel settings were completely wrong while recording. Apologies.
